Congratulations to Samuel (3rd grade) and Jackson (6th grade) who represented AES today in the Scripp’s Connecticut Spelling Bee! Both students competed against spellers from across the state for a chance to advance to the national event in Orlando, Florida this summer. Even though they did not emerge as the overall state champion, we are incredibly proud of them and their accomplishments! Way to go Sam and Jackson!

Conference Call

Samuel and Jackson can be seen in the boxes on the lower right during this virtual event.

Second trimester progress reports will be sent home on Friday March 26 via email. All families have the opportunity to schedule a conference with classroom, special education or special area teachers to discuss student progress. Please contact teachers directly via email or phone to schedule your 10-15 minute Zoom conference. If you would like to receive a paper copy of your child’s progress report, please contact Rosemary Crandall at

You’ve Been Caught!

Linclon was caught reading this book as part of his 20 book challenge. Way to go Lincoln!

Lincoln reading

Andover’s Read Across America Challenge is underway! Andover students have been challenged to read 20 books each in a variety of genres between March and June and encourage their classmates to earn whole class rewards and help AES meet the school reading goal of 3,000 books before June 1st. Each week, students will be featured in the Sunday Scoop and recognized on our website as part of the challenge.

Student Art Galleries and Spring Gift Giving Ideas

In grades K-6 photos will be taken of different art projects throughout the year and uploaded to your child’s art gallery on the website Artsonia. You will get a notification every time work is published. Parents and family members can view the art online, leave comments, and order keepsakes featuring the art such as: masks, t-shirts, magnets and mugs through Artsonia’s gift shop. The school will receive a portion of the proceeds from any keepsakes ordered. These could make some great personalized gifts for upcoming holidays. Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and graduations will be here soon!

Permission slips for you to access your child’s Artsonia gallery using a screen name and a parent code have been sent home. You can set your gallery for private or public viewing. We hope that you will join and enjoy viewing your child’s art. Distance learners can also submit work by emailing photos to Mrs. Waine.

From AES Food Services:

As you know, breakfast and lunch is being provided at no cost to all AES students this year through a federal grant. You can find the necessary forms and information at Andover Public Elementary Food Services.
