It’s not every day that a beautiful white horse finds its way to the lower playground, but AES was treated to a visit by Valor on Tuesday morning. Everyone was thrilled to see a horse in our backyard. Mr. Campbell brought him some food and kept him company until his owner arrived. It was quite a treat!

Our annual Spring Art Show was shared with students, families and staff on Thursday evening. Jessica Waine did a fabulous job of including photos of each student’s artwork for this show. I strongly encourage all of our families to click on the link below and watch the 17 minute video that highlights our extremely artistic and talented students. Thank you Jessica! You did a great job!

Andover Elementary’s favorite dentist, Dr Kevin Norige and his world famous sidekick Roo, visited our school last Friday. Dr Norige comes to visit each year to help our students understand the importance of dental health and overall well being.

The dynamic duo talked with grades Pre-K to 6, adjusting length of time and level of complexity to match his audience. Roo is always ready to assist Dr. Norige as he teaches proper brushing and flossing, and food and snack options. This year Dr. Norige also discussed Covid safety practices and visits to the dentist office. The media had labeled the dentist office as a dangerous place to go, but in reality the dentist is one of the safest places to go with a less than 1% transmission rate. Dentists were already using personal protective equipment. Roo and Dr. Norige encourage everyone to visit the dentist for routine preventative care.

Dr Norige and Karen Zito met years ago through Boy Scouts. He and Roo graciously donate their time each year to teach us how to better care for ourselves.

In keeping with AES tradition, we held our 6th grade Community Service Day on Thursday, May 27. The students worked hard to help make our school grounds look great! They spent the afternoon weeding, mulching, cleaning up the playgrounds, painting, and even helping to construct a canopy! Thank you to our custodians, Mr. Moynihan and parent volunteers Mrs. Solloway and Mr. Talaga. It was a fun and meaningful day spent outside!

Each year, fifth graders have the opportunity to write a letter to themselves. The letters are stored by the fifth grade teachers until these students graduate high school. This year, the teachers welcomed the AES class of 2015 (2021 graduates from RHAM) and presented them with their own letters. It was such a heartwarming experience to see these students return and reminisce as they read the letters and shared stories from their days at AES.
