Friday Memo 05-18-18

Outdoor Learning Day!

There were smiles all around as the Pre-K and Kindergarten students participated in our first ever Outdoor Classroom Day on Thursday.  The morning was filled with science, math and engineering activities (STEM). With the help of staff and many parent volunteers, the students explored science, math and engineering activities (STEM) in a carefully prepared environment.  Some of the stations were: Force and Motion, Water Play, Mud Play, Archaeological Dig, Creation Station, Chalk Drawing, Tree Art, Balance and Scales, Maze and Web Makers, Weaving, Bubble Exploration, and a Relaxation Station. The rain added to the fun. Thank you to everyone who helped to make it an amazing day.  Be sure to check out the rest of the photos at the end of this memo.

Mrs. Jacobs’ 3rd Graders filled up their Marble Jar and voted to have a Science Day! Students made slime, created an artistic model of a volcano, designed and tested Marble Roller Coasters, learned about Newton’s Laws, and made an alphabet of scientific words! We capped it all off with the Ultimate Egg Drop competition, and 5 of our designs actually survived a fall of two stories! Way to go, 3rd Grade smarties!

What's Happening in the Library Media Center

Students have been busy getting ready for Geography Jamboree! In grades K-6 students have been visiting the library to research and read books about their respective countries. Be sure to come visit on Thursday, May 31st from 6:30pm-7:30pm. You will have the opportunity to see how our students have learned about the culture, animals, and geography of countries all over the world.

As we near the end of the school year,  it is time to start collecting all the books that have been borrowed throughout the school year. The last day for book check out will be June 1st. Students will still come visit the library during their normally scheduled time, but will not be borrowing books after that date. Overdue and missing book notices will be sent out to allow you time to find and return any library materials. If you have lost or damaged a book we would appreciate that you replace it or send money in to replace it.
